Gold Medals of the Autonomous Community
The Gold Medal is the maximum award that concedes the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands. It|He|She wants to stand out the merits of persons and institutions that have highlighted a fairer and solidary society|company in its|his|her|their dedication to model from different aspects|looks of its|his|her|their activity (cultural, literary, entrepreneurial, humanist, of research) and in its|his|her|their estimation for the community.
The institution of the Gold Medal of the Autonomous Community intends to pay homage to the citizens il•lustres of the Balears, to recognize publicly the merits by which they have been distinguished, to exalt in the face of all most diverse values that have characterized them and attitude on duty on our earth|land from the places, as well as its|his|her|their contribution to the process of cultural recovery|retrieval, social or political of the Islands.
The first Gold Medal, of special category, granted in 1983 to His|Her Majesty the King Joan Carles.
On the 5th December 1983 the first ordinary gold medals were conceded: to the writer Llorenç Villalonga (to|in posthumous title), to the philologist Francesc de Borja Moll and to the poet Marià Villangómez.
