Prizes Ramon Llull

The Prize Ramon Llull del Govern of the Balearic Islands it was instituted|proclaimed by the Decree 5/1997, of 23 January, published in the BOCAIB no. 15 of 4 February 1997.

The first award ceremony of the awards took place in the building of his|her|their Llonja on Friday, on day 14 of November 1997.

It has as a purpose to honor the persons who, for|because of|from|out of its|his|her|their effort, have stood out markedly for the performances|actions or the services loaned in defence of the general and peculiar interests of the Balearic Islands.

This distinction is conceded annually by decree, so many to physical persons how juridical. The number of awards the Council|Piece of Advice of Government determines, that he|she|it has to reward the individual work or col•lectiva of the former year.

The Decree of 1997 establishes the following ones, as own areas deserving of this award: the cultural one, that sport, the juridical one, the entrepreneurial one, the civic one, the humanitarian one, the linguistic one, as well as that of the research and that of the education.

The award is a reproduction in silver and gold of an extracted xylography of the col•lecció of Majorcan Xylography of the printer|printing Guasp. This xylography was carried out in the year 1950, in Palma, under the direction of the bibliophile Pere Sampol i Ripoll and has been cataloged as|like the most ancient|antique col•lecció of the world. The first edition is dated between years 1895 and 1898.
