Strategy for the protection of the coastline in the Balearic Islands considering the effects of climate change (2021) The strategy is a guide for action on the coasts of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera, Cabrera and Dragonera, which aims to achieve internal coherence in the management of the actions carried out by Costas within its competences. It also presents a diagnosis of the coastline, divided into "management units", in order to identify the problems posed by the effects of climate change and the level of risk in each section. In drawing up this strategy, account has been taken of the government's proposals to limit the creation of artificial beaches and the dune and beach system, and to assess the role of posidonia in issues such as coastal erosion protection. The aim is to make the Balearic coastline more resilient in the face of the climate emergency, giving priority to its restoration. |
