Take care with fire

Do not light any fire in woodland

Do not use any kind of fireworks, etc., in areas where there is a risk of fire

Do not pollute the woods with rubbish of any sort

Extinguish cigarettes-ends completely and do not drop them in the woods

Keep the area around the house clear of dry vegetation

In the house

Make sure chimneys are fitted with spark guards

Remember it is obligatory to keep a 50-metre-wide strip round the estate clear of rubbish and dry vegetation

If fire comes, shut yourself in the house and close doors, windows and other openings through which air may enter

Do not leave the building unless instructed to do so by police or fire officers

In the woods

If you see smoke in a wooded area, call 112 and move away from it

Go in the direction opposite the smoke and wind, seeking areas with less vegetation

Never flee upwards nor along ravines or valley floors

Do not cross tracks or roads where there is no visibility because of smoke
