Register of Carriers, Containers and Means of Transport of Alive Animals

The carriers of alive animals have to be authorized and register in the Register of Carriers, Containers and Means of Transport of Alive Animals with character previous to the exercise of its activity, as he establishes the Decree 4/2010, of 15 January, by which it is created and regulates the Register of Carriers and Means of Transport of Animals of the Balearic Islands and him 'they regulate the authorizations.

They also have to be authorized and register the containers and means of transport of alive animals, once the containers and means of transport used to transport dogs, cats or polecats have been included, when the transport is made in relation to an economic activity, the breeding included of animals to sell, or with profit motive.

There are five types d'autorització,segons the type of transport:

T1: transport of less than 8 hours but more than 65 km (interislands).
T2: transport of more than 12 hr (long journey).
T2: transports of more than 8 hr and less than 12 hr (long journey).
T3: transport in a same island (maximum 65 km).
T4: transport of own animals with the own means at less than 50 km.

The carrier, in case after having been authorized changes are produced in the data consigned in the Register, has to communicate them to the competent authority in the deadline that this determines, that it can not exceed the 15 working days since these are produced.

The carrier is the responsible of hard on board each container or ascribed means of transport the following documents:
a) A copy of the authorization of the carrier.
b) The authorization of the container or means of transport.
c) The register of activity that the article 48 of Law 8/2003 establishes, of 24 April.
d) The sanitary documentation.

The authorization of the carrier has a maximum validity of 5 years, once finished the deadline has to be requested the renewal of the inscription of high in the Register of Carriers, Containers and Means of Transport d’Animals of the Balearic Islands.

The inscription in this Register does not apply to the following cases:

a) The carriers, containers and means of transport of pets, as they describe in the article 3.4 of Law 8/2003, of 24 of April, whenever the transport is not made in relation to its economic activity.
b) The means of transport and property containers of the stockbreeders and that are used by these to transport the animal own ones, at a distance from its exploitation inferior to 50 km.
c) The different containers of the used ones for equins or animals of the bovine, ovine species, caprina or pork.
d) The transport of animals from consultations or hospitals veterinary or towards these, for council of a veterinarian.
