The integral service of electrical train of the Palma-Link line means a point of inflection in the history|story of the railway of Mallorca, as it|he|she meant fifty years ago the step|passage of the steam in the dièsel, i establishes the bases of the railway of the future in the island.

The event|act of today has been presided over by the president of the government of the Balearic Islands, José Ramón Bauzá, accompanied of the president of the Parliament of the Balearic Islands, Pere Rotger, of the president of the Council|Piece of Advice of Mallorca, Maria Salom, of the counselor of Agriculture, Environment and Territory, Biel Company, like this also as|like of the batles of the towns for where it goes the line, and other representatives of the autonomic Administration, of public and private institutions, of organizations of the civil society of Mallorca and of the adjudicator companies of the works and of the service.

After the progressive implementation of this service during the two last months, in which the electrical train has lived together with the diesel in the Palma-Link journey|route, from tomorrow, 17 February, this line will be electrical in a general way. To offer this new electrical service, SFM will have five units of three cars and eight units of four cars. The total investment|inversion for the starting of the service of electrical train is a hundred million euros, between purchase of mobile material and electrification of the line.

The traveller will be the main one benefited of this new service, faster, comfortable, accessible and safe|sure. In terms on duty, the utilization of these electrical trains will allow to reduce the duration of the journey|route between Palma and Inca, since they have a major capacity of acceleration and of braking. All this will entail a time|weather of minor displacement|trip and a major comfort for the users during the journey.

Moreover, the modernization of the service, which means the circulation|traffic through electrical units of train, contributes substantially to the care|cure of the environment, since the electrical trains are less noisy and cleaner. On the one hand, they mean a reduction in the pollution, since the treatment of waste is avoided and the emission|broadcast of polluting gases, and of the other one is reduced, the acoustic pollution is reduced considerably to the zones at the same time|on the way of the train, since the electrical traction produces levels of noise inferior to those of the diesel traction.

It is necessary to highlight that speaking about electrical traction means also to speak about saving, in terms of energetic consumption as well as of maintenance, since the energetic efficiency of this system is major. In this sense, it is estimated that 25% will be spared per year in energetic consumption and near 30% in maintenance with respect to the current diesel park.
