The General Direction of Public Health and Consumption awards the prizes Consumópolis 7 in Menorca

The General Direction of Public Health and Consumlliura the prizes Consumópolis 7 to the pupils and teachers of the educational centers of Menorca that have been rewarded for the shown|presented works and that will opt at the final of the national phase of the competition. They have been present to the event|act the counselor of Public Administrations, Simon Gornés and the head|boss of the Service of Education, Formation|Training and Information, Maria Eugènia Ramon.

The competition is divided into three categories (5th and 6th of primary, 1st and 2nd of secondary, and 3rd and 4th of secondary). In Menorca it|he|she has highlighted the team|equipment "him diverse", of the IES Biel Martí de Ferreries, winner in the category of 3rd and 4th of secondary.

The prizes for the teams|equipments of winning pupils consist of a MP4 of 8 GB for the first classified, a MP4 of 4 GB for the seconds and a MP3 for the third. The teachers who have classified its|his|her|their team|equipment as a winner of the corresponding category will receive a portable minicomputer, with a maximum of a portable minicomputer for center. On the other hand, regarding the centers classified into each of the categories -third cycle of primary, first course and second course of compulsory secondary education, and third and fourth course of compulsory secondary education- there is a prize of 1.200 € for the winner, one of 600 € for the second classified and one of 300 € for the third classified one. Moreover, a portable computer will be conceded in the three more participative centers.

All pupils who have taken part in the competition and have not won will receive like prize a memory USB, an ecological cup and pen, and a diploma.

The competition

The school competition about responsible consumption Consumópolis 7 has counted with the participation|shareholding of 640 students of the Balearic Islands, which has been the fifth more participative community of the State. On this occasion, the lemma was "The advertising: you buy or they buy you"?.

In this edition of the competition, organized by the National Institute|High School of Consumption and the organizations|organisms of consumption of the autonomous communities, 9 schools of Mallorca, 1 of Menorca, 2 of Eivissa and 1 of Formentera had been registered. In total they are 13 centers, which have brought 128 groups of students.

The competition is made by teams|equipments of five pupils of a same cycle, coordinated by a teacher of this cycle. A same teacher can coordinate different teams|equipments of its|his|her|their center. The competition has two parts. In the first, the participant teams|equipments have to complete the itinerary for the virtual city of Consumópolis, solving several tests|proofs, of pedagogic and ludic character. The second part consists of the elaboration of an advertising poster about a product or service.

The objective is to sensitize the children and the youngsters about the importance of carry to|in term events|acts of consumption in a conscious, critical, solidary and responsible way. Likewise, it is managed to bring them over to|in a new culture of healthy, safe|sure, solidary and sustainable consumption, which represents a principal milestone for the General Direction of Public Health and Consumption.
