The Government and l’Ajuntament of Palma agree on stating the center of the capital zone inhabitant of the Balearic Isles of great touristic influx

The president of the Balearic Islands, José Ramón Bauzà, and the batle of Palma, Mateu Isern, have informatd e the agreement which both institutions have reached|arrived to declare the center of Palma zone of great touristic influx, in order to constitute the commercial freedom in this area of the city between April and in October. In the event|act celebrated to stage this agreement they have been also present, on the part of the Government, the general director of Trade and Company, César Pacheco, and, on the part of the Town Council, the first lieutenant of batle of Tourism and Municipal Coordination, Álvaro Gijón; and the town councilor of the Area Delegated from Comerç, Work and Youth, Esperança Crespí.

The declaration of determinate municipal areas as a zone of great touristic influx is a foreseen competence|competition in the Law of ordering of the commercial activity in the Inhabitant of the Balearic Isles Islands that corresponds to the Government -and in particular, to the headline|holder of the Economic|Economical Vice-Presidency, of Entrepreneurial Promotion and of Employment|Occupation-, with the previous request, expressed with a full agreement, of the affected town council.

This measure intends to invigorate the center of Palma and to use its|his|her|their potential of sales  during the weekends, since it|he|she makes it possible to open on Sunday and to constitute the freedom of commercial timetables|schedules.

It is necessary to remember there being other zones of Palma that already had this consideration, with which with  the agreement that has been shown|presented the zone declared touristic of great influx in the center is broadened and those that already enjoyed this category are reordered. 

Determination of four zones

This way, the Resolution of the economic|economical vice president resulted from this agreement determines that, for the period understood|included between the 15 March and the 30 October 2012, for the purpose of excluding the limitation from commercial timetables|schedules, the part of the territory of Palma following:

- Zone 1: intrawalls (inside|inland of the zone delimited by the avenue of Gabriel Alomar, the avenue of Rosselló Alexandre, the avenue of Joan March, the avenue of the Earl of Sallent, the avenue of Germany, the avenue of Portugal, the promenade|walk of Mallorca and the piece of the sea front understood|included between the Promenade|Walk of Mallorca and the avenue of Gabriel Alomar).
- Zone 2: limit of the municipal area of Palma with that of Calvià, zone understood|included from the variant|bypass of Biggest Creek of the highway of Ponent, the avenue of Joan Miró and the Sea.
- Zone 3: avenue of Gabriel Roca (maritime promenade|walk), stretch that stretches|spreads between the round of Midday and the creek of Can Barbarà.
- Zone 4: zone of the Molinar, the Garden City, Can Pastilla and Sandy Ground delimited by the confluence of the highway of Llevant with the street Joan Maragall, the highway of Llevant (until the deviation of Blue creek), the torrent of the Jews and the sea.

The determination of these areas as a zone of great touristic influx will understand extended annually, unless the Town Council shows|presents, in the deadline|installment of the following month to|in the date of completion of the mentioned period, a new motivated proposal or that the General Direction of Começ i Empresa, occurred circumstances attended to, considers the convenience to modify or to revoke the resolution.
