"Travel in an efficient way: your mobility improves", lemma of the European Week of Mobility 2011

The counselor of Agriculture, Environment and Territory, Biel Company, accompanied by the town councilor delegated on of Mobilitat de Palma and president of the EMT, Gabriel Vallejo, and the general director of Transports of the Government, Juan Salvador, it has shown|presented today the program of activities of the European Week of Mobility 2011. "Travel|Move in an efficient way: it|he|she improves your mobility"! it|he|she is the lemma of the edition of this year, that is been glad between the 16 and 22 of this month of September and puts emphasis in the necessary awareness of the European citizens who live in the urban areas so that they travel in one way every time more sustainable: on foot, with bicycle or in public transport. Choosing these modalities of transport more sustainable than the private vehicle, the citizens can influence in a positive way in its|his|her|their health and its|his|her|their welfare|well-being, and improve, at the same time, the environment and the quality of life in the cities in the benefit of all of them.

The SEM is, undoubtedly, the campaign about sustainable mobility with more repercussion in the world. In the last years, more than 2.000 populations and cities have taken part in it, with a total of 220 million persons. This year there are 1.669 cities inscribed from all the world. Spain, with 628 participant cities, is the country with more participation|shareholding. In Balears, 20 towns have been added to this edition: Alcúdia, Algaida, Calvià, Capdepera, Ciutadella, Eivissa, Esporles, Inca, Llubí, Maó, Manacor, Marratxí, Palma, Petra, Puigpunyent, Sant Antoni de Portmany, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Santa Eugènia, Santa Maria del Camí and Santanyí.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Territory, and the Consortium of Transports of Mallorca, together with the Town Council of Palma, they join to this SEM with the celebration of one series of activities that intend to make aware on a path|way of his|her|its not having reverse gear and of which all, institutions, companies and citizens, have to feel coresponsibles.

The objective fixed for the ministry on the subject of transports is to advance towards a model of mobility more sustainable, less dependent on the particular vehicle and with more presence of the public transport, but always from some parameters of optimization of the public resources|appeals, so that any performance|action is answered|vouched for by realistic analyses of need and profitability, moreover, naturally, of having the necessary funding to execute them.
