The general director of Ordering, Innovation and Professional Training, Onofre Ferrer, has given the prizes and diplomas to the 48 finalists (30 of Mallorca, 13 of Eivissa and Formentera and 5 of Menorca) of the interschool competition of English|Englishman 'The Fonix 2012', who|which in its|his|her|their fourth edition has been structured in eight categories, for pupils from 5th of Primària until 2nd of High School|School Leaving Certificate.

The event|act has also had|counted the participation|shareholding d the general director of International House (IHLS Group), Jonathan Dykes, and the general director of the Cambridge University Press, Angus Oliver, among other authorities.

'The Fonix' is a pedagogic activity that is born as a dinamitzadora tool of the English|Englishman for the teachers and also engrescadora for the students. One of the basic objectives of the competition it|he|she is the diffusion|broadcast of the utilization of the English|Englishman as a language|tongue of use among|between the ones school, conscious of the huge and every time more increasing importance of this language in all areas of the current society|company.

More of 5.000 pupils from 5th of Primària until 2nd of High School|School Leaving Certificate and coming Formative Cycles of Medium and Superior|Upper Degree (between 10 and 18 years) 50 educational centers of the Balearic Islands have taken part in the fourth edition of the competition this year. It has to be highlighted that since its|his|her|their creation, the competition 'The Fonix 2012' has had the participation|shareholding almost of 20.000 pupils.

The competition has been organized by the entity International House Palma and the Cambridge University Press, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities of the Government of the Balearic Islands and the collaboration of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), The Corte Inglés and the virtual entity of languages NetLanguages. The Ministry promotes this initiative with the objective of improving the linguistic competence|competition of the pupils of the Balearic Islands in a foreign language|tongue.
