The unemployment registered in the SOIB was reduced in February in 575 persons in comparison with the former month and places the number of free in 98.352 persons.

Inhabitants of the Balearic Isles and Extremadura the two only communities where the unemployment descends of a month in the other one, although in the Islands he|she|it made it in major proportion (-0,6 in front of the -0,4 of Extremadura) are. In the whole|set of Spain, the unemployment has grown a +2,44%.

From an interannual perspective, the unemployment has shown an increase of 8.690 persons, 9,7% in relative terms. The unemployment also grows to|in all the autonomous communities at interannual level, in|on an average of 9,60%

Balears is one of the few communities where the number of persons affiliated to the Social Security with respect to the former month grows and where this figure grows in major measure: 1,52%, in front of the fall|slope of the national whole|set (-0,29%). In total, in the month of February there were 349.003 persons affiliated to the system, 5.232 more that last month.

The recruitment in the month of February was 17.063 new contracts, which represents an increase (+5,9%), especially in the sector of the hotel business (+26,3%).
