iBit Foundation, public R+D organization, main mission is to achieve knowledge and information society  within Balearic Islands through the analysis, development and  promotion of new information technologies.

Main cruxes of the Foundation are, in the one hand, to facilitate the access to information and communication technologies for enterprises and public administration by developing technological applications and, on the other hand, supporting  their services to become digital and use them effectively and efficiently.

Finally, iBit Foundation collaborates actively with Balearic Islands software industry,  in order to  develop a competitive Information Technologies sector. All this aimed to improve innovation in our region.

Principal thematic areas are:

  • ICT and society

Technological specialization areas are:

  • Communication protocols and interoperability,
  • Quality management and traceability systems for food industry,
  • Information society and innovation policies,
  • Open source IT solutions,
  • Intelligent management and information systems,
  • Knowledge and technology transfer,
  • ICT literacy and digital literacy of citizens,
  • Remote rehabilitation using video games and,
  • Training and certification on ITC tools.

IBIT Foundation works to achieve its objectives through collaborative R&D projects, mainly co-founded by  European Commission and state and regional governments. The number of projects completed since 1998 are more than 100 on R+D+I and 160 dissemination initiatives and 111 articles, books and other published works outside R+D+I projects.
