From the 24 June until the 9 July, the exhibition|exposure of the I Prize of Photojournalism of the Balearic Islands will remain open to the island of Eivissa, precisely in the gallery of the Diario de Ibiza.

Sebastià LLompart Vich:1r presses, endowed with 6.000 euros.
Catch Coll Escarrer: 2nd premi,dotat with 5.000 euros.
Daniel Cardona Ferrer: 3rd premi;dotat with 4.000 euros.
Bartolome Ramon Mateo, 4th prize, endowed with 3.000 euros.
Alejandro Sepulveda Soler, 5th prize, endowed with 2.000 euros.

A total of 35 photographers of Mallorca, Menorca and Eivissa, who shape more than five hundred images about the present of year 2008 were presented, the call. Each photojournalist could give a maximum of five photographs and reports, many of which have already been published in press or sold across agencies. The contents of this first competition are very diverse and images of political present, reports of human interest, can be seen sport events or social life, among others.

The decision of the jury was introduced in a public event|act in qual they were|showed in digital format the selected works and the winning works. Besides the president Gina Garcias, the estva jury formed by four vowels. They are the outstanding professionals: Javier Bauluz (Press Pulitzer), Toni Catany (National Prize of Photograph|Photography), Sandra Balcells (Press Ortega y Gasset) and Pepe Cañabate (City Prize of Palma).

The call allowed the occasion of gathering professionals and public, to make a col•loqui among|between the members of the jury about the Photojournalism in the Balearic Islands.

These awards are a recognition to the daily task that the photojournalists exercise|exert in our Islands and an opportunity to have a photographic collection of the most relevant events of our autonomous community that they make reference to the one happened during all the year of 2008. With this objective, work is also done in the elaboration of a catalog about the photojournalists and the informative task.
