The free software makes reference to the freedom of the users in the use of the program; studying the functioning|operation of the program to be able to adapt it|him to|in its|his|her|their needs; distributing copies, in order to help other persons; improving the program and to make the improvements public, for that the citizenship in general benefits.

To free the software is a task that is carried from public administrations of other countries. Also from different regional governments of the Spanish State performances|actions are carried out to develop distributions of free software.

The Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands, through the general Direction of Technology and communications, wants to make a bet|commitment in favor of the free software and does work to foster its|his|her|their diffusion|broadcast and its|his|her|their use. And because of that property|estate of the Administration wants to make in general the free software for the citizenship available so that they can benefit from the programs and computer applications. Likewise, the Administration itself|herself can benefit from the improvements that work in in the software freed, without this implying any added cost, and without losing the property|estate.
