Technicians of the Service of Vegetal Health of the General Direction of Rural and Sea Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Territory have offered today dematí in the Bit Center of Inca an informative day|working day about the plan of crash|shock that has started off the Government for fighting against the plague of the beetle of the palm trees. The objective of this meeting|encounter, in which sixty municipal technicians of Environment of town councils of Mallorca have attended it, has been to inform about the plan of crash|shock for year 2012 and about the protocol of performance|action that has to be followed if detects the plague of the Rhynchophorus ferrugineus or morrut red of the palm tree.

In its|his|her|their intervention, the general director of Rural and Sea Environment, Margaret Mercadal, has insisted on the need that all administrations are implicated in the fight against this beetle that last year affected about 1.300 palm trees, mostly in Mallorca. Margaret Mercadal has remembered that, in spite of the effort that the last year was made with the elimination of 700 infested palm trees, the guard|watch can not be humiliated|lowered and the formation|training of the municipal technicians is fundamental about how detecting the cases of infestation and how destroying suitably the affected palm trees.

The beetle of the palm trees feels|finds present to Mallorca from 2006, where 2.400 affected palm trees have been counted, and in Eivissa from 2007, where 260 cases have been registered. The more affected species continues being the Canarian palm tree (Phoenix canariensis) and just seven datileres palm trees have been detected or fassers (Phoenix dactylifera) and a robust Washingtonia.
