José Ramón Bauzá Díaz was born in Madrid in 1970. He holds a degree in Pharmacy from The Complutense University of Madrid.
In 1996 he became member of the Popular Party (Partido Popular, PP). Since then and until 2003 he was Town Councillor in the Town Council of Marratxí (Majorca) in the opposition. He was the most voted candidate at the elections of 2003 and, by virtue of a governance pact with the Independents of Marratxí, he became Deputy Mayor and Councillor of Town Planning and Health the first two years of the term of office (2003-2005), and Mayor during the last two years (2005-2007). In 2004 he became President of the Local Government Board.
In the elections of May 27th, 2007, the Popular Party obtained the first absolute majority of the history of the party in Marratxí and, therefore, governed alone with a total of 11 town councillors.
At regional level, after the last congress of the Popular Party, he was appointed one of the two Vice Presidents of the party. Since September 2009 he is the Regional President of the PP.
On June 15th, 2011, he was sworn in as President of the Balearic Islands.
He likes sports (soccer, basketball, tennis), music, reading and travelling. He is married.
